Ashtanga Yoga übt man eigentlich ja pur, also ohne es mit anderen Stilen zu vermischen. Für mich ist die Kombination beider Yogastile – Jivamukti und Ashtanga Yoga – so bereichernd. Denn ich finde sie passen wie die Faust aufs Auge, ergänzen sich ideal. Jivamukti Yoga ist dabei wie die kleine Schwester von Ashtanga Yoga.

Was mich an Jivamukti Yoga begeistert

Jivamukti Yoga ist eine durch und durch runde Praxis. Sie besteht aus fünf Säulen:

ahimsa = Gewaltlosigkeit, bhakti = Hingabe, nadam = Yoga des Klanges; intensives (hin-) Hören, shastra = Studium der klassischen Texte wie Yoga Sutra, Bhagavad Gita oder Hatha Yoga Pradipika, dhyana = Meditation.

Die Asana Praxis beim Jivamukti Yoga ist sehr gut abgestimmt. Sie basiert auf einer festen Struktur, innerhalb derer es viel Freiraum für eigene Sequenzen und Interpretationen gibt. Es ist kreativ aber kein durcheinander. Fließend aber nicht fahrig. So wirst Du immer eine fein abgestimmte Sequenz erleben, die alle Chakren anspricht. Das tut körperlich und geistig einfach gut.

Ähnlich wie beim Ashtanga Yoga wird ein striktes Vinyasa unterrichtet. Das stärkt die Konzentration. Für mich die pure Entspannung. Mal nicht im Kopf arbeiten sondern fühlen und fließen lassen. Bewegte Meditation. Durch die Gruppendynamik entsteht eine nährende Energie, da alle im gleichen Rhythmus üben.

Ahimsa, nicht verletzen erinnert daran wie kraftvoll die Yoga Praxis ist, wenn wir die Intention und Energie der Praxis ausrichten. Für Sharon und David, die Jivamukti Gründer, bedeutet dies auch eine vegane Lebensweise. Ich bin da nicht so strikt in der Auffassung, denke jedoch, dass die Reflexion unserer Lebensweise klug und wichtig ist. Die Ausrichtung unserer Lebenskraft elementar.

Und was ich noch Liebe: Beim Jivamukti Yoga wird sehr auf gute Assists geachtet. Das ist Teil der Basisausbildung und wird im anschließenden Apprenticeship meist noch vertieft. Gute Assists sind ein Geschenk vom Himmel. Sie helfen körperliche und geistige Blockaden zu lösen und ermöglichen eine fein ausgerichtete Praxis. Sie unterstützen den Körper und Geist zu fokussieren und zu zentrieren und Achtsamkeit in Bereiche zu bringen, die z.B. nicht so bewusst, oder sehr angespannt sind. Nadam der Klang, Bhakti, die Hingabe und Shastra, das Studium der Yogaschriften bieten soviel Inspiration – geistig und körperlich. Ein wunderbarer Schatz. Die Philosophie und das Chanten öffnen das Herz und erinnern Dich immerwieder auf so schöne Weise daran, das Yoga ein Zustand des „Ganzseins“ ist. Oder wie einer der Lehrer von Sharon Gannon  und David Life es so schön sagte.

Was an Ashtanga Yoga so toll ist

Ashtanga Yoga war Liebe auf den zweiten Blick. Anfangs war es mir zu streng.  Irgendwann kam dann der Tag an dem ich meine Matte im Yogaraum ausgerollt habe. Ich war begeistert. Fokus, Klarheit, Intensität. Das lag auch an Jake Bohner einem erfahrenen und freundlichen Lehrer der kraftvolle Assists gibt. Ähnlich wie beim Jivamukti Yoga gehören die beim Ashtanga Yoga dazu.

Ich mag die ruhigen Morgenstunden der Selbstpraxis und die Möglichkeit individuell an seiner Praxis und auf seinem Level zu arbeiten. Es ist ein intensives und wundervolles Selbststudium. Die Lehrer sind meist sehr erfahren und haben eine solide Selbstpraxis, so dass der Unterricht meist auf einem hohen Niveau stattfindet. Es ist eine geistig sehr fokussierte und körperlich stärkende Praxis. Die Auswirkungen spürst Du sofort.

So kräftigt Ashtanga Yoga den Körper und klärt den Geist und den Verstand. Es gibt so genannte Mysorestunden, die nach der Stadt Mysore, der Wiege des Ashtanga Yoga, benannt sind. Jeder kann dabei in einem festgelegten Zeitraum seine Praxis selbst beginnen. Da jeder seine eigene gelernte Sequenz übt. Das finde ich sehr praktisch. Traditionell ist die Ashtanga Praxis rein auf Ashtanga fokussiert. Mir ist das zu strikt und ich habe gemerkt es macht mich zu fest, vor allem geistig. In Kombination mit Jivamukti Yoga, fürs Herz und die Gemeinschaft, finde ich diese beiden Stile ein unschlagbares Paar.

Jivamukti und Ashtanga Yoga werden traditionell nicht gemischt. Ich glaube um eine langfristige und freudvolle Praxis zu haben ist es so wichtig immer wieder selbst zu gucken, wie gut die Praxis einem tut und ob sie am Ende mehr Kraft und Energie schenkt.

Wie seht ihr das?

PS: Ich höre oft das Jivamukti und Ashtanga Yoga physisch so anstrengend sind und man unfassbar verknotbar sein muss. Das stimmt nicht. Jeder kann anfangen. Ich habe schon 70 jährige üben sehen. Eben in ihrer Kapazität. Just practice.
